Phyllis Gorsen, born in Philadelphia, PA, predominantly works in the medium of painting. Her work, a mixture of abstraction and representation, focuses on how the commonality of shared patterns connects people together by using symbolism. In 2014, Gorsen received her MFA from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. Her work has been exhibited nationally, including galleries in New York, Philadelphia, and California. Gorsen had a two-person exhibition at Hot Bed Gallery in Philadelphia in 2019, and recently had a solo show at Chris White Gallery in Wilmington, DE. She has also curated shows at Philadelphia’s ARTSPACE 1241. Over the last couple of years, Gorsen has been featured in many publications including: The Philadelphia Inquirer, ArtBlog, Create! Magazine, Not Random Art, Fresh Paint Magazine, the Courier Post and Glassworks Magazine. Many of her paintings are in collections throughout the United States. Gorsen currently works out of her studio located in Philadelphia.
