Pumice, acrylic, and oil on canvas

Camilla Marie Dahl b. 1993 in Sharon, CT is a Brooklyn-based painter and sculptor. Caught somewhere between romanticism, cynicism, and comedy, her work reflects on hubris, humility, and our tendency to view the world through hierarchical structures. Drawing on imagery from her hometown and her lived experiences, she works with bronze, steel, pumice rocks, and paint to build a colorful and introspective reality. Dahl received her BA from Skidmore College and her MFA from the New York Academy of Art. She is a two-time recent recipient of the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grant, and in 2019 she was awarded a residency at La Ceiba Gráfica in Veracruz, Mexico. Her work is collected internationally. She has exhibited in shows throughout New York and Connecticut, and her work was auctioned at Sotheby’s New York last fall.
