Rebecca Bender Artist Biography & Statement
Rebecca’s art practice explores the relationship between form, movement, and emotion. She is fascinated by the ways art can capture and evoke feeling, creating a way for her inner world to speak directly to the inner worlds of others.
Inspired by her travels and her love of the natural world, her paintings reflect a sense of place. She primarily works in oil on canvas as well as mixed media on paper and board, layering elements to build depth and texture. She enjoys finding the abstraction in the scenes she paints.
As her practice evolves, she is excited to explore new mediums and approaches, allowing each piece to emerge organically. Her goal is to create work that invites reflection, while being a beautiful addition to people’s homes.
Rebecca is based in the Pacific Northwest, where the region’s close connection to nature influences her painting. She studied at Emily Carr University of Art + Design in Vancouver, B.C. Today, she continues to create pieces that resonate on an emotional level, inviting viewers to see a part of their own story reflected in her work.
